We are looking for One Peer Assistant to serve in the Iversen Wellness and Recovery Center. The Peer Assistant, reporting to the Program Supervisor or Manager, will support individuals in their recovery and wellness journey at the Iversen Wellness and Recovery Center. This role involves offering non-crisis mental health peer support, running peer groups, and promoting physical, emotional, and mental well-being in an inclusive environment. Drawing from their lived experience, the Peer Assistant will serve as a role model, offering guidance, encouragement, and advocacy to clients as they navigate challenges and celebrate successes. The center provides a member-directed wellness program with peer support, socialization, and recovery activities, welcoming individuals and their families experiencing mental health challenges.Examples of Duties:

Duties/Responsibilities
Peer Assistant
- Peer Support: Provide one-on-one peer counseling, in person or by phone, practicing active and empathetic listening.
- Role Modeling: Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ needs within the wellness center and the community.
- Resource Navigation: Assist clients in accessing resources such as support groups, employment help, and educational opportunities.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate group activities, workshops, and events that promote community outreach.
- Education: Train peers and families on wellness, coping skills, and self-care strategies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential records of client progress.
- Collaboration: Work with staff, case managers, and volunteers to ensure client support.
- Continued Learning: Participate in training to stay updated on peer support and recovery practices.
Salary:
Pay Range: $16.50 (Step A) - $17.50 (Step C)Minimum Employment Qualifications:
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Priority will be given to candidates who have livedexperience with mental health and/or substance abuse recovery. At least one year in helping professions or local community work is preferred. Basic computer skills are also preferred. Mental health consumers are highly encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
Must be able to move freely around the Center, including standing, walking, bending and reaching.
Basic phone skills.
Must be able to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for clients and staff, including proper disposal of waste and regular cleaning.
Must be able to adhere to process protocol including safety.
Moves equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
Basic computer skills including ability to use email and access online trainings.
