CFHL is a program that focuses on bettering the lives of others through nutrition and physical education. Our mission is to provide access to every possible nutritional resource that is available to those who are low income. CFHL is active in reaching out to the community and works with a number of local organizations and officials to spread the word about healthy living. Our nutrition educators are dedicated to making a positive impact in this community. CFHL services include nutrition education, food demonstrations, group physical activity such as Farmer’s Market walks. CFHL is helping you enjoy a healthy lifestyle with community resources, farmers markets and recreation opportunities in your area.We are looking for a full-time Nutrition Educator to be responsible for program delivery within a wide variety of community settings in the region. The position's main demographic will be tailored to Shasta County. This includes building relationships with the community partners, adapting the program to fit the audience’s needs, and implementing and delivering appropriate health and nutrition programs. Making presentations to local K-8th grade elementary schools, afterschool programs and other facilities following a set curriculum.
Examples of Duties:
This position will work with a diverse population and are expected to have the ability to communicate Public Health principles in a culturally appropriate manner. Teach nutrition, food safety, physical activity and food resource management education classes to low-income children and the community, using state approved curriculum and materials. Have the ability to build positive working relationships with NVCSS staff, community partners and community members. Educate through State approved presentations; set and carry out goals and objectives, conduct or coordinate community events and evaluate their effectiveness; provide leadership to move a community action. Collect information from education classes and conduct weekly data entry.
Salary:
Starting Range: $21.54 (Step A) - $22.85 (Step C)Minimum Employment Qualifications:
BA/BS or relevant experience in the field preferred. Have an understanding and be able to get certified on safe food handling. Have reliable transportation and have a driver’s license and auto insurance. Google platform experience preferred. Excellent communication skills; presentation and teaching skills are preferred.Other:
