Our goal is to promote the development of support services which contribute to the ability of residents to lead more independent lifestyles in an environment that reinforces the quality of their lives. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced on-site Resident Manager for our Valley View Complex located at 103 Silver Dollar Way, Chico, CA 95928, featuring 15 units that provide housing opportunities for individuals. The primary responsibilities will be collection of rent, handling move-ins and move-outs, maintaining tenant files & monitoring housing complex, as well as provide adult educational classes and community resources to support health, wellness and independent living skills.


Examples of Duties:

Supportive Services Duties – 6 hours a week

  • Prepare, coordinate and execute on-site adult education classes that shall include, but not be limited to:
    • Workshops incorporating computer skills and training in programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Job seeking skills, resume building, job retention and networking with community resources to promote employment opportunities
    • Financial literacy programs through local banking institutions and service providers for budgeting, money management, and banking systems
    • Safety classes including Neighborhood Watch, fraud awareness and prevention
  • Coordinate activities and services for residents of the complex to promote long-term independent living and self-sufficiency:
    • Provide information to residents regarding community resources to support health, wellness, and independent living skills
    • Advocate and support residents in their efforts to gain access to benefits, vocational opportunities, independent living skill building and health and wellness information

Resident Manager Duties – 26 hours a week

  • Collecting all tenant rents and delivering all rents to NVCSS by the 5th of each month
  • Ensuring that all rents are paid timely, and if necessary, apply rental policies regarding rent collection in compliance with all legal requirements
  • Responding to any security or vandalism problems by reporting to law enforcement when warranted
  • Reporting possible lease violations, safety concerns, and any other situation which requires attention to the NVCSS Program Supervisor immediately
  • Working with tenants to encourage tenant-planned social and community activities
  • Responding to all maintenance requests from tenants in a prompt manner, and coordinating repairs with NVCSS staff
  • Arranging for all vacated units to be in condition to re-rent including coordinating all necessary repairs and cleaning with the NVCSS Maintenance Worker and Housing staff, providing access to units, and assisting with scheduling of work
  • Performing all annual inspections of apartments and complete inspection documents
  • Cleaning all common areas
  • Providing a monthly status report to the NVCSS Housing Assistant Director by the 5th of each month (for the prior month)

Salary:

$17.00 per hour and rent on a unit (utilities and water not included, deposit required)

Minimum Employment Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent degree. Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have two years experience in property management, money handling, documentation, working with special populations including low-income and disabled adults, and maintenance skills. Must be detail oriented, problem solving, able to meet deadlines and have good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Have a current driver's license, auto registration and auto insurance. Experience with Microsoft and Google platforms. Experience working with HUD is helpful.

The working conditions are typical health clinic settings; involving the potential for high stress levels and exposure to hostile situations; some non-standard work hours may be required. Must be able to work with a clinically challenging client population and maintain professional composure. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
