At NVCSS, CASA trains and mobilizes our community volunteers to become Advocates and make a difference for abused and neglected children in foster care. They stand up for them. Speak up for them. Champion without compromise for what’s in their best interest.

We are seeking a compassionate individual who is able to lead our CASA team to give our children a voice. This individual must be able to demonstrate respect for all people regardless of their age, socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender. The Advocate Supervisor provides expert supervision and case management to Advocates for open dependency court cases serviced by CASA of Tehama and Glenn counties. The primary goal is to ensure children served by the CASA Program receive comprehensive advocacy that leads to their safety, well-being and permanency.

Examples of Duties:

  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to assist Advocates in creative problem solving, utilizing Agency and community resources to ensure accuracy and consistency with dependency permanency planning and best practices 
  • Maintain a minimum of monthly contact with each assigned Advocate
  • Supervise a starting 30-35 CASA caseload
  • Assign cases and monitor unassigned cases
  • Orient assigned Advocates to new cases 
  • Facilitate relationships between professionals, service providers and Advocates 
  • Assist Advocates in formulating and implementing the child’s Advocacy Plan 
  • Interpret National CASA and Judicial Council guidelines to Advocates 
  • Support Advocates in the development of contact logs, required data collection, court reports and court appearances 
  • Ensure CASA database is updated with child and Advocate case information 
  • Accompany assigned Advocates to court hearings 
  • Perform Annual Reviews and Set up End of Case interview with Advocate at case dismissal 
  • Provide regular case/volunteer activity reports and provide statistical reports as needed to Program Supervisor on case/volunteer activity
  • Record case note information and other case details in database system 
  • Participate in Advocates’ in-services, trainings and monthly CASA to CASA meetings as needed 
  • Assist with special events and fundraisers
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach activities
  • Attend all staff meetings, conferences, seminars and other meeting opportunities relating to CASA programs and the dependency system in general, as requested by the Program Manager 
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours of Continuing Education annually 
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Program Manager

Salary:

Starting Pay Range: $24.25 (Step A) - $25.73 (Step C)

Minimum Employment Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years’ of supervisory experience. Preferred supervisory experience with volunteers. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, have excellent written, composition, and oral communication skills and be flexible with hours due to the needs of the program, including some evening work. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and other software. Have reliable transportation, car insurance and be willing to travel throughout service area. Completion of background screening process (i.e. DMV check, FBI, Department of Justice (DOJ), CACI (Child Abuse Central Index), and upon hiring complete 40-hour CASA training.
